Pamukkale is one of the most famous sights in Türkiye: white travertine terraces filled with warm, mineral-rich water, and above them the ruins of the Roman city of Hierapolis. From Antalya it is about 245 km by road, roughly three to three and a half hours each way - close enough for a day trip, but far enough that an overnight stay makes the visit much more relaxed.

Most group tours arrive around the middle of the day, when the terraces are busiest and, in summer, the white surface is dazzling and hot. Staying overnight in Pamukkale or the thermal village of Karahayıt lets you see the travertines at sunset and again in the quiet of the morning.

The best season for Pamukkale

Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons: mild temperatures for walking around Hierapolis and pleasant water on the terraces. In winter it is cool and occasionally frosty, but the warm water steams in the cold air and the site is at its quietest. In July and August the midday heat and glare on the white terraces can be intense - go early or late in the day.

On the way: Lake Salda and the Taurus

The road climbs from the coast over the Taurus mountains and across the lake district. Lake Salda, with its white shores and turquoise water, is a short detour and a popular photo stop. With a private vehicle you decide where and how long to stop - something a coach tour cannot offer.

Private transfer to Pamukkale

We run private transfers from Antalya Airport and from hotels on the coast to Pamukkale, one way or with a return on a later date. The price is fixed per vehicle, so for a family or a small group it is often comparable to several coach tour tickets - without the hotel pickups, the fixed schedule or the shopping stops.
