July and August are the two months Antalya is built around. The beaches are full, the hotels are at capacity and the airport handles the densest traffic of its year. It is also the hottest and most humid part of the summer, so the difference between a good day and an exhausting one is mostly a matter of timing.
How hot it gets
| Month | Typical day | Sea | Character |
|---|---|---|---|
| June | 30-33 °C | 25-26 °C | Hot but still comfortable, long evenings |
| July | 33-36 °C | 27-28 °C | Peak heat and peak occupancy |
| August | 33-36 °C | 28-29 °C | Warmest sea, humid nights |
| September | 30-33 °C | 27-28 °C | Summer without the crush |
These are approximate averages; single days above 40 °C happen most summers. Nights stay around 23-26 °C on the coast, which is why air conditioning matters more here than shade does. Rain in July and August is rare enough to plan against.
Planning a summer day around the heat
- Keep the beach and the pool for the morning and the late afternoon; 13:00 to 16:00 is for shade, lunch or a nap.
- Visit ancient sites early - Perge, Aspendos and Side have very little shade, and the stone radiates heat by midday.
- Boat trips and the Köprülü canyon are the cooler options: water and altitude both help.
- Save the old town, Kaleiçi, for the evening, when the lanes are warm rather than hot.
- Drink more water than you think you need, and keep a bottle with you in the vehicle.
The arrivals hall in high season
Summer is when Antalya Airport is slowest to walk out of. Expect 20 to 45 minutes from landing to the exit, occasionally longer when several wide-body charters land together. That is normal, and it is exactly why the free waiting window matters: the first 90 minutes after your actual landing time are included, and the pickup moves with the flight if it is delayed.
Arriving comfortably in the heat
A transfer in August is a different task from one in March. Our vehicles are air conditioned and cooled before the pickup rather than after it, drivers carry the luggage, and the car park is a short walk from the meet & greet area J / 777. For families with small children, that is the difference between starting the holiday rested and starting it overheated. Child seats are free, but they have to be requested when you book.
Is summer the right time for you?
If you want the warmest sea, every hotel facility open and a full entertainment programme, July and August deliver exactly that. If you would rather see the ruins without queueing and swim in a sea that is still warm, the first half of June and the whole of September give you the same coast at a slower pace - and the airport road is noticeably quieter.
