You land at Antalya Airport (AYT) after a three to five hour flight, often late in the evening, usually with luggage and sometimes with children. The next forty minutes decide whether your holiday starts well. There are three realistic ways out of the terminal, and the cheapest headline price is rarely the cheapest journey.
The three options side by side
| Private transfer | Airport taxi | Shared shuttle | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price basis | Fixed, per vehicle | Metered, per trip | Per person |
| Known before arrival | Yes | No | Yes |
| Waits for a delayed flight | Yes, tracked | No | Limited |
| Stops before your hotel | None | None | Up to 8 |
| Luggage capacity | Van sized | Car sized | Shared |
| Child seat | On request, free | Rarely | No |
What a taxi actually costs
A metered taxi is the default answer at every airport, and at short distances it is a reasonable one. The problem on the Turkish Riviera is distance: Belek is 45 km away, Side 65 km, Alanya 125 km. A meter running over 125 km at night, with a return leg the driver has to absorb, produces a number nobody quoted you in advance. You also have no recourse if the route taken is not the direct one.
A private transfer inverts that. The price is agreed for the whole vehicle before you fly, it does not change if traffic is bad, and it is the same whether one person or six travel.
Why shared shuttles look cheap and often are not
A shuttle sold per person looks unbeatable for a solo traveller and stops being cheap at two. For a family of four to Side, four seats usually cost more than one fixed-price van. The real cost, though, is time: the vehicle leaves when it is full and drops passengers along the coast road in the order that suits the route, not you. Arriving last after a night flight can add well over an hour.
When each one is the right answer
- Solo traveller, hand luggage, daytime landing, hotel in Antalya city: a taxi or shuttle is fine.
- Two or more people going beyond Antalya city: a private vehicle is usually cheaper and always faster.
- Families with child seats, strollers or golf bags: private, because capacity is guaranteed in advance.
- Night arrivals and connecting flights that can slip: private, because the pickup follows your flight rather than a timetable.
What to check before you book any of them
Ask three questions and the differences become obvious. Is the price per vehicle or per person? Is it fixed, or does it move with traffic and time of day? And what happens if the flight lands two hours late - does someone still meet you, and is there a surcharge? Our fixed prices are per vehicle, flight tracking is included, and the first 90 minutes of waiting after landing are free and shift automatically with a delayed flight.
